Flu Prevention Information

Flu Prevention

There have some cases of the flu (influenza A) and the norovirus (a gastrointestinal virus with severe vomiting and diarrhea) in our school community. It is not too late for your child and family members to have a flu shot. A list of flu shot providers is available:www.stopthespreadaz.org. Please see this link for January 10, 2013 News Release by ADHS:
In the best interest of all it is extremely important to notify your child’s doctor  and keep your child home when ill for their safety and the welfare and safety of others. Any child with a fever of 100.0 (or higher) or who is vomiting or having diarrhea should stay home until fever-free or not vomiting or having diarrhea for a minimum of 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medicines. (Diocesan and School Policy)
Besides staying home when sick, frequent handwashing, coughing into one’s shoulder, and disinfecting frequently-touched surfaces are the best preventative measures against getting sick.
