Wednesday

Today was a good day during Mass. We have a visiting priest from Notre Dame. Students received a prayer card with the Nicene Creed. Father Pete would like children to begin saying this prayer everyday at home. We will of course include it in our daily prayers.
In reading we started a new story, "The Tiny Seed" by Eric Carle. We are also writing a class story about where each of our seeds will end up. The students will use tissue to illustrate their page for the book. I hopefully will be able to put it into a powerpoint and share it on the class website.
We also reviewed vocabulary and how to use context clues in a story.
In math students began writing the algorithm for addition number sentences with renaming. This is a fancy way of saying we started adding with carrying. Manipulatives are still very useful for students to see how and why they need to trade or rename.
In social studies we began a unit on government. This includes the election, monuments, government leaders, and where they work.
In science we finished up our work on the circulatory by talking a little bit about what is in our blood, like platelets, red blood cells, white blood cells, plasma.
Remember Friday is buck a jeans day.
