Monday

You will find a Book Talk packet in your child's folder. This is an individualized book report. Students need to pick our a book. Then fill in the bottom of the top page and bring it back for my approval. Then students may pick one project to do their book talk on. They will be presenting their project and will need to give a brief summary, including the main characters, setting, problem, solution, along with any details they would like to include. Remember students do only one project, NOT one from each section.

In religion we reviewed the Ten Commandments and discussed the Great Commandment that Jesus gave us.
We are finishing up our saints book this week.
In language students worked on endings, dropping the silent e before adding s, ed or ing. They also practiced the contraction n't. Students listened to a story called, "Vote for Me!". Tomorrow students will work in small groups and they will write a TV commercial asking viewers to vote for either the donkey or the elephant. This story has nothing to do with Republicans or Democrats. On election day students will vote for either the donkey or the elephant.
In math students did a great job adding 3 3-digit numbers with renaming.
In social studies students learned about some American heroes like Susan B. Anthony, Martin Luther King, Jr., Rosa Parks, Chief Joseph of the Nez Perce tribe, and Cesar Chavez.
In science students learned about the digestive system and they took a short quiz on the systems of the human body.
