Wednesday

We are so excited to have a new pope, Pope Francis I. We were able to watch the white smoke. Then students were so excited when they saw lights go on inside the Vatican. They also listened intently as Pope Francis spoke. We prayed at the beginning of the day for the Cardinals in the conclave. What a great day for our Church! After Pope Francis we also prayed for him.

In reading we reviewed our new vocabulary and discussed the suffix at the end of the words.
Students shared poems in pairs. Poems for the Poetry Contest are due on Friday.
We also reviewed context clues and practiced making inferences.
In math students worked on the review pages at the end of the first math book. They will be receiving the next math book tomorrow. It was fun to see them review concepts taught earlier and say how easy they are.
The class has really learned a lot and completing the review showed that.

In social studies we discussed how weather affects people's lives depending on where they live. They also practiced reading a bar graph, which they are all excellent at.

Don't forget to bring in your change.
We are still looking for a volunteer to be our Retreat Coordinator for the 2nd grade retreat on April 9.
