Thursday
What a great day! We had a wonderful class Christmas party! Thank you to Mrs. Valentine, Mrs. Quinn and all the other parent helpers, who made the day so special.
Students did an awesome job singing their hearts out at the Christmas Concert last night and they all looked so beautiful in their holiday clothes.
Thank you to Mrs. Quinn who made our class angel for the Christmas Concert.
We are at the end of the 2nd quarter and grades close tomorrow. We managed to finish up our science unit on weather. It helped that we had actual rainfall and weather. We had a blast seeing how much rain collected in the rain guage. We also measured and graphed the temperature along with the wind speed using a weather vain, and the air speed using an anemometer.
I will be sending home the 1st semester math workbooks home tomorrow. Students DO NOT need to finish any unfinished pages in the book. They can if they want to for practice. They were given their new math textbooks and workbooks today.

She has received only 16 beautiful little angels. That means she is missing about 8 angels. If your child has not turned in a decorated little angel, please bring it tomorrow so it can be part of the class angel. the decoration is due on Monday.

Tuesday
Today we began with our Psalm book illustrating Psalm 8.
In math students took the Cumulative test for Units 1-5. Tomorrow begins with the 2's in multiplication.
In reading students learned about choosing topics for a report that don't have too much information. This was an inductory concept and was rather difficult. For example, choosing "mammals" as a report topic would have way too much information for a short report, but choosing "blue whales" would be perfect because there would be just the right amount of information.
In science students used big syringes that had plungers with an attached tube so they could push air in and out of the syringe. No worries... only tubes were attached to the syringes.;) Students attached two syringes with one tube and then they experimented to see what happens when they pulled on one plunger. they found out that the other plunger was pulled in the opposite direction.
In social studies we worked in "Our Community" book, unit 1, "Living in a Community".
